눈치 - Nun Chi : The Art Of Knowing Someone's Feelings

The Korean word 눈치 (Nun Chi) means the art of knowing someone's feelings and gauging them to build connection, trust, and harmony.

In the midst of the pandemic, I met Aeji. After quickly attaching the boyfriend and girlfriend labels, so began my first serious relationship, spending our weekends travelling across Korea to be together. Divided by Korea's mountain ranges, we were torn apart for extensive periods. While navigating our boundaries and cultural differences, photography became a cathartic response to my emotions as I understood these new emotions and grappled with how Aeji might be feeling too.

These photographs are an observation of both mental and physical distance. They are equally as much a contemplation of my time in solitude as a reflection of our moments together.
