Summerdale

In the Autumn of 2021, my parents called me to tell me they were leaving Summerdale- the house they bought as newlyweds and had lived in since. With the five thousand, five hundred and three miles standing between my apartment in Korea and my hometown in England, I felt the instant pain as though someone had died.

While mourning Summerdale from a distance,  my closure felt out of reach; watching my belongings packed via WhatsApp messages and video calls, I chose what to keep and leave behind. In an effort to reconnect a distant and strained relationship with my family, I asked my immediate family to photograph their idea of home; however, they chose. What followed this was a nine-month photographic conversation as I bridged the distance between Summerdale in England, and my second home in Korea, where I have resided for the last three years; although I never planned to stay this long, my heart had other ideas.

This body of work is not only an archive of my memories and surroundings but a love letter two the two homes I am torn between.
